**Typically, the best time to enroll is during the annual Open Enrollment Period. Individual and family plans have Open Enrollment from November 1st through December 15th for a January 1st effective date. If you miss this enrollment period, you have to have a life change (also known as a Special Enrollment Period (SEP)) to enroll outside of Open Enrollment. Otherwise, you may be forced to wait for the next Open Enrollment Period before you can get covered.
